An amine/imine functionalized microporous MOF as a new fluorescent probe exhibiting selective sensing of Fe3+ and Al3+ over mixed metal ions

Nowadays metal-organic frameworks with multiple luminescent centers are very fascinating as multifunctional luminescent material because of their luminescence properties, which could be systematically tuned by deliberate use of organic ligands and metal ions. In this research, we explored a microporous mixed-ligand MOF for highly selective and sensitive detection of metal ions. A two-fold inter...

Ultraefficient separation and sensing of mercury and methylmercury ions in drinking water by using aminonaphthalimide-functionalized Fe(3)O(4)@SiO(2) core/shell magnetic nanoparticles.

A new fluorogenic based aminonaphthalimide-functionalized Fe(3)O(4)@SiO(2) core/shell magnetic nanoparticles 1 has been prepared, and its abilities to sense and separate metal ions were evaluated by fluorophotometry. The nanoparticles 1 exhibited a high affinity and selectivity for Hg(2+) and CH(3)Hg(+) ions over competing metal ions.

DNAzyme-Based Sensing for Metal Ions in Ocean Platform

The ocean contains a number of metal ions that are either bene fi cial or detrimental to marine lives or ecology. Developing sensors for on-site and real-time detection of these metal ions plays an important role in our understanding the ocean as well as its protection. DNAzymes, DNA molecules with enzymatic functions, have emerged as a new class of sensing molecules for metal ions, because DNA...

DNA-capped mesoporous silica nanoparticles as an ion-responsive release system to determine the presence of mercury in aqueous solutions.

We have developed DNA-functionalized silica nanoparticles for the rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of mercuric ion (Hg(2+)) in aqueous solution. Two DNA strands were designed to cap the pore of dye-trapped silica nanoparticles. In the presence of ppb level Hg(2+), the two DNA strands are dehybridized to uncap the pore, releasing the dye cargo with detectable enhancements of fluorescenc...

Two-photon ratiometric sensing of Hg2+ by using cysteine functionalized Ag nanoparticles.

We have demonstrated a novel two-photon sensing strategy to detect mercury ions with high selectivity and sensitivity. This sensing approach is based on the observation that addition of Hg(2+) into a cysteine functionalized Ag nanoparticle solution could significantly enhance their two-photon emission. An enhancement factor of up to 100 fold was obtained when mercury was added. A detection limi...
